Still Muddy After All These Years by Ree

This photo perfectly sums up what life in the country is like, especially during this drizzly, rainy, muddy, messy season we’re in. It sure is a good thing our local law enforcement is understanding about obscured license plates. I think they know there’s not a lot that can be done about it!

You know, I watch the women on The Real Housewives of Everywhere get in and out of their shiny, pristine cars—the same women who are sporting golden tans and wearing white jeans with heels of some kind—and I just stare in awe and wonder.

“I wonder what that would be like,” I dreamily say to myself.

“That” being the pristine car. And the white jeans. And the tan. And the heels.

I can’t remember what it’s like to drive a perfectly clean car to an event. Or to the grocery store. Or to church. It doesn’t even cross my mind anymore, and then I catch a glimpse of my car on one of my Food Network episodes and think, “I wonder if I should care about this?”

I can’t get in and out of the car without getting mud (or, if it’s dry, dust) on either my boots or my jeans or my shirt or my hair. Yes, my hair. I can’t tell you how that happens, but it does. So white jeans will never be in the cards for me.

I’m a natural redhead. So yeah…tans. They don’t come naturally or healthfully to gals like me. And I can’t do self-tanner without getting it in all the wrong crevices. So I resign myself to being a lighter shade of pale.

And the heels? No way! NOT WITH MY PLANTAR FASCIITIS! Man, I tell ya…being 47 is not just a job. It’s an adventure.

And why don’t Real Housewives get plantar fasciitis, anyway? I don’t remember seeing that malady crop up on any storyline along the way, and I’ve watched every single episode.

IMG_1067(And by the way…it’s nice to have the muddy car to blame for the absence of white jeans in my wardrobe. There may or may not be other reasons as well. Ha!)

Happy Friday, Friends! Embrace your muddy cars, your self tanner-free crevices, and your inflamed fascias today. It’s great to be alive!

Love,

P-Dubster
