The Last 48 Hours by Ree

playoffsIt’s been a busy weekend! First, Marlboro Man and the boys had their playoff game, which I filmed from the press box so that Marlboro Man and his fellow coaches could analyze every play afterward…and which they won! So exciting, and, as the mother of two of the players and the wife of the coach, such a relief. And the relief was only temporary, of course: The championship game is next!

My heart can’t take it.

Then, as soon as the playoff game was over, Paige and I drove down to see Alex late Saturday night. She had a sorority event yesterday, and we wanted to be there for her.

mamaalex2Before we headed to the event, we snapped some photos! This is what Alex and I called “The Emotionally Detached Photo.” She’s hugging me with an open and generous heart and my arm is dangling coldly and flaccidly at my side.

Now, a mere 36 hours after we arrived, Paige and I are headed north back to the ranch. We have dogs, cats, and boys to take care of, after all, and Alex has college life to tend to.

But it was so wonderful to have a dose of her…if even just a little one. I kinda miss that girl.

Happy Monday, friends! Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween weekend.
