Maggie Comes to Visit

Maggie is Josh’s dog, and one can’t look at her in these rural surroundings and not laugh. She’s tiny—absolutely tiny—and is the most unlikely ranch dog there is.

This, of course, is part of her charm.

Maggie1She is very different from the Basset Hounds in that she always acts like she’s really glad to see you! It’s “Hi! Hi! Pick me up! Pick me up! I love you! You’re great! Life is fun!”

Maggie2“I guess I’ll mosey over there, but let the record reflect that I really don’t care.”

Maggie3Hmmm. Or does he?

Maggie4This is the most engaged in life Charlie has been all week.

Maggie5Maggie! What perfume are you wearing? I might try it out on Marlboro Man!

Actually, scratch that. You’re a dog. Probably wouldn’t translate.

Maggie6Uh oh…look out, Charlie! You’re ’bout to get a little competition.

Maggie7“Come to me, my leetle fox.”

Maggie9Maggie, you two-timer!

Maggie8Walter, lemme give you a little tip. Your breath is not an asset in the love department. Try to keep your yawns under control when Maggie visits.

Maggie12When I first saw Maggie, I did, in fact, think a baby fox was in Josh’s yard.

Maggie13And then the baby fox ran up to me and barked.

Maggie15We’ve been buddies ever since!

Maggie16Most people said she wouldn’t last. But here’s why she did: She’s a complete animal! If anyone so much as looks at her the wrong way, she charges and lets them know she’s boss.

Maggie17I’ve seen her intimidate Basset Hounds, Labrador Retrievers, and Boxers into submission. You’ve got to admire Maggie’s spirit.

And survival skills!
